Quarterly Newsletter | October 2018

Message from the President

Greetings, GACE!
I would like to share the exciting things our team has been focusing on this quarter. Our professional development team has been working diligently to provide members with quality programming.

Our first drive-in workshop is Career Coaching and the College Student
presented by certified NACE Career Coach Dr. Lori Trahan on November 9.
We encourage all new and experienced career services professionals to take advantage of this affordable and local opportunity to develop new skills.

The Experiential Learning team is challenging our thinking this year with a focus on Moving Beyond Traditional Internships during the drive-in workshop hosted by Turner Broadcasting in Atlanta. During this interactive session on December 11, our Experiential Learning team will bring corporate and collegiate leader together to discuss engaging ways to assist students to become career ready. The session will conclude with a tour and a behind-the-scenes look at Turner Broadcasting.

The GACE leadership team has been preparing to serve as the state host of the 2018 Southern Association of Colleges & Employers
Conference in December. Let’s ensure Georgia is well represented by networking, engaging and serving.

Save the date for our 2019 Conference at Brasstown Valley Resort and Spa in Young Harris, GA. The October 31st deadline for proposals is quickly approaching—submit your trendsetting proposal today! Our conference committee is going for the triple crown with a programming focus on career success, recruitment, and student engagement.

We will continue to focus on strategic ways to build and maintain our membership base while being good stewards of our resources. Will you support us on this journey by volunteering, sharing knowledge and resources, or by communicating the benefits of GACE with your colleagues?

On behalf of the 2018-2019 Executive Team, thank you for allowing us to serve you with a spirit of excellence!

“Leadership is the wise use of power, power is the capacity to translate intention into reality and sustain it.” Warren Bennis
