    Job Summary

    The Experiential Learning Coordinator will assist the Office of Career Services in expanding experience-based learning opportunities to Clayton State students through collaborations with academic units that have embedding career-related activities that focus on experiential learning. Assist the Associate Director in serving as a liaison between Career Services and academic departments that participate in our University Internship program. In addition, the Experiential Learning Coordinator will develop and maintain effective business relationships with internship work sites, coordinate the on/off-campus job shadowing program, mentoring program, provide internship assistance to students who are engaged in early career development, deliver career development workshops, assist with planning events and conduct classroom presentations related to professional development and career employment while incorporating professionalism, respect, integrity, and compassion in all that they do.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with all aspects of the University Internship Program, including site development, student assistance, utilizing career management tools, collect and analyze data, coordination of Internship Job Fair, and collaboration with Academic Affairs. Facilitates the resolution of concerns brought forward by students, faculty, and/or internship site personnel.
    • Conducts ongoing outreach to employer constituents and develops ongoing relationships with organizations and businesses to ensure that job openings and internship opportunities are offered to Clayton State students and graduates.
    • Provides career coaching and career development guidance to students and alumni; includes one on one and group interaction with students focusing on resume reviews, practice interviews, classroom presentations, internship job search strategies utilizing our online career management system and career assessments.
    • Coordinates our university on-campus and off-campus job shadowing programs and mentoring programs.
    • Contributes to all aspects of Career Services programming, organization, marketing, and implementation of programs, workshops, and events.
    • Participates in local, state, and regional professional affiliations

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree preferred, bachelor’s degree required in a related field (student affairs, counseling, business, or higher education)
    • 3 years work experience in Career Services, HR or Recruiting or related field
    • Experience in the use of counseling or coaching strategies for individual students and graduates including the use of career assessments.
    • Effective communication includes reflective listening; relationship development; concise, error-free writing; and presentations that accomplish specific objectives. 
    • Strong marketing, computer, and organizational skills
    • Proven ability to develop and sustain collaborative relationships, execute projects and establish goals with minimal supervision.
    • Knowledge of experiential learning best practices.
    • Knowledge of career services functions, services, and professional standards.
    • Knowledge of job search components and processes.
    • Ability to provide and analyze statistical data for periodic and end of year reporting
    • Ability to organize work effectively independently and with the team, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public. 
    • The candidate must be willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
    • Ability to represent the department and University in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
