    Responsibilities

    Mentoring Program & Coaching (25%)

    • Develop, implement, and oversee a peer mentor program for School of Arts & Sciences.
    • Recruit, train, and oversee upper-division student mentors who will be matched with lower-division mentees.
    • Conduct engaging mentoring sessions for students majoring in STEM programs and develop an enduring, trusting relationship helping them with transitioning from high school to college, developing effective study strategies and life skills, creating and obtaining realistic educational/career goals, and becoming more involved on campus by referring them to appropriate activities/events and resources.
    • Provide success coaching to students; provide support and resources to develop effective self-determination and self-advocacy to reach students’ academic and personal goals.

    Internship Program (25%)

    • Provide career coaching to students seeking internship opportunities.
    • Provide support to programs within the School of Arts and Sciences interested in increasing their students’ participation in internships.
    • Develop and implement a centralized registration process for internships.
    • Create and implement a marketing campaign to raise awareness about internships and campus resources available to support participation in these high-impact practices.
    • Assist students with job readiness services/workshops and internship/employment-search strategies as well as providing guidance regarding experiential learning application procedures.
    • Facilitate placement of students in experiential learning opportunities related to their degree, monitor students' on-site assignments, and develop support documentation for academic credit.
    • Manage the Experiential Learning module in Handshake. Track industry outreach in Handshake.

    External Stakeholder Relations (15%)

    • Improve student access to internship opportunities through employer development activities and collaboration with faculty.
    • Conduct site visits to current and potential internship sites to evaluate learning/work environments.
    • Participate in area business, not-for-profit associations, and chamber of commerce activities with emphasis on relationship development.

    Events Management (15%)

    • Create and present pre- and post-workshops for students’ participation in internships/co-ops or other experiential learning opportunities.
    • Develop and provide engaged programming to increase students’ awareness of and successful participation in mentoring and internships.

    Budget Allocations and Reconciliation (10%)

    • Oversite of budget and administer funding for internship opportunities where the employer could not provide funding.

    Data Analytics & Reporting (10%)

    • Collect and maintain Title III internship participation data and provide reports for stakeholders.
    • Collect and maintain Title III mentor program participation data and provide reports for stakeholders.
    • Participate in staff activities/meetings, an annual performance evaluation, and professional development activities including involvement in state, regional, and national associations.
    • Attend meetings and collect and analyze needed data related to the Title III Grant.

    Other Duties as Assigned


    Candidate Requirements

    Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

    Preferred: A bilingual and dynamic individual with strong verbal and written communication skills, a commitment to inclusive excellence, and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, alumni, families, employers, faculty, and staff.
