As the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at the College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA) and Founder and President of the Center for Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education, Dr. Butcher is a dynamic force in educational innovation. His dual leadership positions underscore his commitment to integrating advanced technologies into the educational landscape, fostering a culture of innovation and forward-thinking in higher education.

Dr. Butcher’s academic journey is as multifaceted as it is comprehensive. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, a Master's in Public Administration, a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, and a Graduate Certificate in Artificial Intelligence in Business Innovation. This blend of disciplines anchors his deep understanding of AI, its practical applications in the educational sector, and its wider influence in various industries.
Nationally recognized for his expertise in AI within the realm of higher education, Dr. Butcher has been a prominent figure at various esteemed platforms. His expertise was notably showcased at the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) events, including the
2023 Assistant Vice President Symposium and the Annual Conference. During that Annual Conference, he delivered a thought-provoking presentation titled "Artificial Intelligence and the Metaverse in Higher Education: Are We Ready?" This conference, widely considered the premier
event for student affairs professionals, attracted over 5,000 attendees. Dr. Butcher was among a select group of presenters who had the opportunity to present both in-person and virtually, thereby extending the impact of his message. His ongoing involvement with NASPA includes a
commitment to host a half-day pre-conference program at its annual in-person conference in 2024 focusing on AI innovations, best practices, and future directions. Additionally, he will be presenting on enhancing support for students with disabilities through AI at their upcoming

virtual annual conference.

Dr. Butcher's influence extends beyond NASPA. He has shared his insights at the North Cobb (Atlanta) Rotary Club and participated in Regents Administrative Committees within the University System of Georgia. Recognized for his expertise, Dr. B was chosen to serve on an AI ethics panel at CCGA, where he contributed valuable insights on the optimal use of AI in higher education. Further advancing his commitment to AI in academia, Dr. Butcher is spearheading the development of an inaugural course titled “Artificial Intelligence and Business Innovation,” slated for launch in the summer of 2024. This course aims to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications, preparing students for the evolving technological landscape.

In a significant step to bridge AI and academia, Dr. Butcher founded The Center for Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education, serving as its President. This Center is dedicated to enabling universities to effectively utilize AI for transformative educational outcomes. Under his leadership, the Center is pioneering custom solutions, comprehensive training programs, and innovative research initiatives. His consultancy role with leading educational technology companies has been instrumental in integrating AI to enhance student success, administrative efficiency, and customer service.

With nearly two decades of experience in higher education, Dr. Butcher has established himself as a strategic visionary, adept data analyst, and an authoritative figure in educational technology, higher education, and various industry sectors. His pursuit of innovation and strategic foresight in harnessing AI have established him as a trailblazer, steadfastly committed to shaping the future of technology and its integration across the multiple sectors.
