Resource Center : Jack Mangham Experiential Learning Award

Nominations Being Accepted for
2008-2009 Jack Mangham Experiential Learning Award

Sponsored by the GACE Experiential Learning Committee

The membership of the Georgia Association of Colleges and Employers is invited to nominate students who exemplify the characteristics of an outstanding student in experiential learning. These characteristics include excellent work habits, high academic performance, and good citizenship. Each school or employer may nominate one student per category (no more than four total). Winners will be announced at the annual GACE Conference.

CATEGORIES
One student will win in each of the following categories:

  • Business
  • Education
  • Arts & Sciences
  • Engineering/Technology
Each Experiential Learning Student of the Year will receive a gift and monetary award.

GUIDELINES FOR NOMINEES

  1. Enrollment in an institution of higher learning in Georgia.
  2. Participation in an experiential learning program such as cooperative education, internship, volunteerism, or apprenticeship during the 2006-07 academic year.
  3. Exemplary performance in academic, work and community settings.

NOMINATION PROCEDURE
The GACE member making the nomination is responsible for collecting and submitting the required materials by February 27, 2009 (see list below). Please send materials to:

SELECTION
A Selection Committee will select the four winners based on the criteria specified below.

Academic Record 25% School Transcript
Work Ethic 25% Employer Evaluation(s) (Limit 1 per student)
Citizenship/Involvement 15% List of Community/Campus Involvement or Extracurricular Activities
Nomination Form 15% Completed Nomination Form from GACE Member
Student Essay 20% Detailing their co-op/internship experience and how it helped them academically
